MELVIN ANGLIN – WILLOW RUN – LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
 

  • 32 years as a Willow Run Community Schools educator
  • 20 years served as school administrator – assistant principal, principal, and athletic director
  • Coached varsity football and basketball – won 4 consecutive district basketball championships – reaching quarterfinals once
  • Voted Ypsilanti Area Basketball Coach if the year.
  • 2010 – inducted into Albion High School Hall of Fame as an Outstanding Alumni
  • Served many years on Ypsilanti Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors
  • 1991 - Omega Psi Phi Fraternity District Man of the Year
  • 4 – time Chapter Omega Man of the Year
  • 1992 – coached the Ypsilanti National Little League team to State runner-ups
  • Decades of serving the youth of the Ypsilanti area as a role model and mentor

KEITH D. ARMSTRONG -YHS – 1982 – BASKETBALL AND FOOTBALL

  • Honorable Mention McDonalds High School All American Basketball
  • All-Area Football and Basketball
  • All-Metro Football and basketball
  • Ypsilanti High School Captain – basketball
  • 3 - year basketball starter – University of Pittsburgh
  • As of 2016 – ranked in the top 45 in 6 U of Pittsburgh career basketball categories, including 10th in blocked shots and 6th in blocked shots average
  • 1987 - BA from U of Pitt in Administration of Justice and has coached and mentored for 30 years in Pittsburgh and Raleigh area who have gone on to play college and professional basketball

JOHN JOSEPH DIGNAN – YHS – 1928 – FOOTBALL – BASKETBALL – BASEBALL

 

  • Played 4 years of football, basketball, and baseball
  • 1926 – Member of the State Champion YHS football team
  • 1928 – First YHS All-State Football player – fullback and linebacker
  • 60 years later, grandson John earned All-Sate football honors as a linebacker - 1988
  • Umpired local baseball games for over 35 years – affectionately known as “Spec”
  • Retired after 40 years working for Ford
  • Becomes the 3rd generation Dignan and 4th family member to be inducted into the YCHS Athletic Hall of Fame (Son Patrick, Grandsons John and Chris Dessellier)
  • Great-grandson Jakob Coker was a freshman quarterback on University of St. Francis (Ft. Wayne, IN) who won their division National Championship
