Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this letter finds you well. As we move forward into the second half of the school year, I want to reinforce important expectations and share upcoming events with you.
To maintain a focused and respectful learning environment, scholars are not permitted to wear hoods, do-rags, ski masks, or bonnets while in the building. Additionally, we are a drug-free and weapon-free school. The Code of Conduct is available on the district website for your reference. Any student caught violating the district’s drug or weapon policy will face serious consequences, including suspension or expulsion.
We have now been in school for more than 100 days, and our focus remains on academic and social growth. To achieve success, we need our scholars in school, on time, every day—they cannot learn if they are not in attendance. Please ensure the school has your correct phone number, email, and current address so we can reach you in case of emergencies.
Students who engage in fighting or persistent misbehavior will be transferred to online school. Our first goal is to educate, and to do that effectively, we must provide a safe learning environment for all.
Important Dates & Events:
- COUNT DAY – February 12th: This is a crucial day for school funding. Attendance is important!
- Valentine’s Dance – February 12th: The cost is $2.00, and students must not have any suspensions to attend. The dance will take place during the school day, featuring music, dancing, snacks, and decorations in the cafeteria. Students who choose not to attend will remain in a classroom with their grade level.
- No School for Students – February 13th-17th:
- February 13th – Professional Development for Staff
- February 14th & 17th – Mid-Winter Break
- School Resumes on Tuesday, February 18th
- Tutoring & Mentoring: We offer tutoring sessions multiple times a year to support academic success. Male scholars also have access to a mentoring opportunity with me, Principal Davis—please have your son contact the office if interested.
- School Play – Madagascar Jr. (February 28 & March 1): We are excited to present this production in our auditorium! We encourage you to bring the whole family and support our talented scholars as they shine on stage.
Lastly, we saw great progress on the NWEA test administered this month. Ask your scholar about their scores—we are extremely proud of their achievements!
