Prinicipal's Message

February 11, 2025

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Tomorrow is COUNT DAY, and we need every student at school, on time, and in every class to ensure we receive the federal funding necessary to support our school’s activities and resources. Your scholar’s attendance is crucial—let’s work together to make sure they are present and ready to learn!

To make the day even more exciting, we will be hosting a Valentine’s Dance during school hours. Entry is $2.00, and tickets can be purchased in the main office. Please note that only students who have not been suspended this week are eligible to attend. The Snack Shack will also be open during the party for students to purchase snacks.

Important Upcoming Dates:

  • Mid-Winter Break: No school from Thursday, February 13 – Monday, February 17. Classes resume on Tuesday, February 18 at 7:30 a.m.
  • Madagascar Jr. School Play: Our scholars have been working hard on this exciting production, and we would love for you to bring the whole family to watch them shine! Show dates are February 28 and March 1.

Important Reminders:

  • Chromebook Care: We need your help in stressing the importance of taking care of school-issued Chromebooks. The district cannot continue replacing damaged devices, and parents will be responsible for replacement costs. Please have a conversation with your child about treating their device with care.
  • Basketball Open Gym: If your scholar is interested in playing basketball, we are offering open gym on the next two Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at YCMS for students in grades 6–8. Weather permitting, we encourage students to attend!
  • RAHS Clinic Registration: We strongly encourage parents to sign their child up for the University of Michigan Regional Alliance Health System (RAHS) clinic located inside our building. This is a great resource for our students!
  • Male Mentoring Program: We have male mentoring slots available for students. If interested, please contact Mr. Davis for more information.
  • Emergency Information: We are noticing that many students do not know their full home address or parent phone numbers. Please take a few minutes to review this critical information with your child.
  • Winter Weather: Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the cold weather, including a coat, gloves, and hat every day.

Thank you for your continued support. Let’s make Count Day a success and enjoy a safe and restful Mid-Winter Break!

Best regards,
Principal Davis
